Our History

Boone County Lumber- A Historic Family Business

The year was 1965, and Howard Eiffert was well ahead of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and all those other men modern history refers to as “visionaries.” His business was lumber, Boone County Lumber, and he set it up for success from the get-go. Next to a rail line in Columbia, Missouri, in the heart of a county named for another visionary, Daniel Boone, Eiffert’s business thrived. And he did what all good men do: he put his heart and soul not only into the business but into mentoring and growing other businesses and entrepreneurs on a local level.

When Eiffert retired as president in 1998, sons Brad and Greg Eiffert assumed leadership roles.  During a second generation of leadership, what Eiffert built would continue to see growth and recognition on a national level becoming a prestigious provider in the building materials industry. In 2015, Brad Eiffert assumed the role of President, and under his tenure Boone County Lumber has become a hub providing well known and sought-after building components.

An Ode to Boone County Millwork

The new millennium brought new opportunities and in 2000, Boone County Millwork launched under the Boone County Lumber brand. Again, vision and innovation, this time through the eyes of his sons, continued to be Eiffert’s legacy. In 2003, BCM Commercial launched as Missouri’s most prolific resource for contractors, architects, and designers in the business of large-scale commercial projects. Fifteen years later, Boone County Millwork and BCM Commercial became a separate corporate entity under new ownership away from Boone County Lumber.
