Founded in 1965 by Howard Eiffert, Boone County Lumber began with a simple vision: to provide quality building materials and support the growth of local businesses. Located next to a rail line in Columbia, Missouri—right in the heart of Boone County—the company quickly became a trusted resource for contractors and homeowners alike. Howard’s commitment went beyond lumber; he believed in mentoring and fostering entrepreneurship within the community.
When Howard retired in 1998, leadership passed to his sons, Brad and Greg Eiffert. Under their guidance, Boone County Lumber continued to grow and earn national recognition as a respected name in the building materials industry. In 2015, Brad assumed the role of President, leading the company into a new era of innovation and service.
The early 2000s brought new opportunities. In 2000, Boone County Millwork was launched under the Boone County Lumber brand, offering expanded product lines and services. By 2003, BCM Commercial emerged as Missouri’s go-to resource for large-scale commercial projects, serving contractors, architects, and designers. Fifteen years later, Boone County Millwork and BCM Commercial became a separate entity, continuing the tradition of excellence under new ownership.
